Uncomfortable faith

How do you look at an impossible situation and get the faith to believe that your dry bones can live? How do you muster enough faith and courage at the impossible and see a God who could and can turn your life around. Most times it’s easy to have faith for the near-possible. When we know something could happen, it’s easy to have faith and join God in bringing it to manifestation. But what happens when God lays before you, your very dry bones? Dry bones with no life, no blood flowing through, no flesh, just plain dry bones and you know there’s no way you could have life or awakening in your situation.

1 The Lord took hold of me, and I was carried away by the Spirit of the Lord to a valley filled with bones. He led me all around among the bones that covered the valley floor. They were scattered everywhere across the ground and were completely dried out. Then he asked me, “Son of man, can these bones become living people again?” “O Sovereign Lord,” I replied, “you alone know the answer to that.”Then he said to me, “Speak a prophetic message to these bones and say, ‘Dry bones, listen to the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Look! I am going to put breath into you and make you live again! I will put flesh and muscles on you and cover you with skin. I will put breath into you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’” So I spoke this message, just as he told me. Suddenly as I spoke, there was a rattling noise all across the valley. The bones of each body came together and attached themselves as complete skeletons.
Ezekiel 37:1-7 (NLT)

Like Ezekiel, God is posing us this question, “My Child, can these bones live? Can this situation turn around? Can this ever happen in your lifetime?” How do you answer these questions? Do we throw our hands in the air and say like Ezekiel, “Lord, only you know!” Yet sometimes that’s all we can say because we cannot fathom how our situations could ever turn around. But the Lord doesn’t leave us there, He wants more than for us to know He can do it, He wants us to be a part of the miracle.

I believe we are in a season and a time where God is challenging our faith and belief system. Where God is getting into the graves and ditches with us and saying to us, “Do not just settle because your situation looks impossible”. God is looking for partners who will believe the impossible with Him. Who can say to themselves, if God says I can do this, then no matter what I am seeing, I can do this. Who can say to a dry bone “LIVE” and actually have the faith to believe that your only job in this is to declare and leave the rest to God. By declaring faith over your situation, you put all the responsibility on God to bring the manifestation.

In recent days I have come to know what is called the Uncomfortable Faith. The faith that is so unsettling that, thinking about it tastes bitter in your mouth and it makes you so uncomfortable to express it to others because they need a level of faith themselves to agree with you and support you in believing for its manifestation. This is the faith God wants us to have, the faith for the impossible. Our God is miracle working God who thrives on turning impossible situations into possibilities, but it all begins with us taking that level of faith even if no one else around us have the faith to believe with us.

God wants us to prophesy to our very dry bones. He wants us to speak life over every immovable mountain before us. God doesn’t want us to go silent over whatever seems far away from us but He wants to stretch our faith beyond ourselves and our own limit. God could have easily spoken life over the dry bones in the valley and they would have instantly come alive and start moving, but He wanted to teach us the power of our words when we partner with Him on our faith journey. So whatever makes you cringe when you think about it manifesting or happening in your life, today God is saying He wants exactly that. He wants to turn your cringing expectations (doubts, fears) into positive declaration.

A little girl recently passed away and the parents believed that God can resurrect their child. Together with their church and people all over the world, prayers were said and shared for this little girl. God also laid it my heart to join in with the prayers for the resurrection. This was a hard one but all I had to go on was the conviction that God wanted me to pray and believe that He can resurrect this child. There was no guarantee on the when and how we will see this manifestation, but just the assurance that God can do it was enough for everyone who was praying for this little girl.

My faith was lifted to pray as I believe when Jesus Christ said:

12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.
John 14:12-14 (NKJV)

Sometimes we may not see the manifestation in the form we expect or in the time we want but we must be assured that as long as the declaration has come out from us, God is on the go and working it out in His way, because when we think God is doing nothing, He is always doing something. God wants to blow your mind, expect the impossible from Him and see Him at work. God honours a heart that is willing to trust Him beyond all understanding.

Embrace your uncomfortable faith, in it lies your comfortable miracle!

May you be filled with the Fullness of God and the Power of His Love!
