1 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
John 15:1-2 (NKJV)
If we are already bearing fruits, we get to be pruned so we can bear more fruits. Our God is an exceedingly abundantly type of God, and He seeks excessive fruit bearing from us, therefore God prunes us to enable that. If our life is all rosy and problem free, then it is a sign that we are not bearing any fruit. The pruning cuts dead things and unproductive things from our life. Life experiences adds onto us baggages and weights we were never meant to carry. All the unproductive stuff hanging onto us, weighs us down and hinder us from growing and so God cuts it all off so we can be fruitful.
Most times, the season before our largest growth spurt is when we experience the most emptiness and loss. We sometimes feel empty, broken, lonely and heavily weighed down because God is cutting all the unnecessary parts of our lives away so we can actually grow into what He has created us to be.
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28 (NLT)
In the midst of our greatest hardship, we need to remember that it is just a pruning season. If we look back on our lives, can we see that before every major victory, growth, and fruitfulness, there was a painful, harsh moments preceding it? We should embrace our next pruning season and look forward to the fruit that will be coming out of us.
Let’s not be tempted to seek external help outside the grace of God in the trying seasons because without Him we can do nothing. We can only produce fruit if we stay connected to Him.
Remember, Pruning Season precedes Fruitful Season.
May you be filled with the Fullness of God and the Power of His Love!
