There have been several interpretations and talks about everything happening around us; and wherever we are, we have the pandemic chatter coming out from every direction. The uncertainties associated with it has left a few people anxious and wondering what the future holds. As children of God, this is the moment the Lord wants us to Arise and Shine and show the world what serving and loving Him is all about.
During our recent prayer meeting, one of our friends shared about the how Jesus said we are the salt of the world and we don’t have to lose our saltiness in this season. A seed was sown in my heart as the Lord begun to speak to me about us being the salt and light of this world. This got me wondering about how being a salt can produce good in this pandemic. My attention was drawn to the main purpose of salt. I found out that salt simply preserves and improves the state of any substance it is placed in.
If God says we are the salt of this earth, it means we should protect and improve the atmospheres around us. This instruction has never been needed in the world more than right now. We can influence the people around us in a positive way, by disintegrating the negative energy we find around us. We have a mandate to speak life, joy, peace and hope over people. Don’t hold back now!
13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
Matthew 5:13 NKJV
The second command from the Lord is to be the Light of the World. With the spirit of God living in us, our lights are shining ever brighter and so we shouldn’t hide it from the World in this needed times. Let our light increase hope and decrease the darkness we are experiencing on the news and conversations around us. Be intentional about shining your light through all forms of communication available and see the world around you light up.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:14-16 NKJV
Finally, we have a God who works everything for our good. Everything includes the good, bad and the ugly. Because He is just Good.
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
Romans 8:28 NKJV
God wants to take over the few days we will be at home to develop something in us and change our lives. In fact, we could spend our time doing the ordinary and usual stuff and bore ourselves out, but God is offering us a chance to rediscover ourselves. To find different versions of ourselves. He want us to encounter Him afresh. Choose to spend more time in His Holy word, prayer, praise and worship and draw close to Him.
Most importantly the Lord wants to give you new strategies, directions and new ideas. If there was ever a thing you have always wanted to do, this is the perfect time to dive into it and bring it to fruition. You could learn a new skill or start a digital business to solve a problem. My husband, Eben always wanted to play the guitar, so he decided to use this time to learn how to play the acoustic guitar. I will let you know how he is getting on in the next post.
The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, And He delights in his way.
Psalms 37:23 NKJV
In solitude God is able to get our attention and lead us on the path He has set for us. Take advantage of this moment to change something about you. Build new relationships and strengthen old ones. Purpose in your heart that you want to come out of this isolation season as a new person who can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.
12–13 I know what it means to lack, and I know what it means to experience overwhelming abundance. For I’m trained in the secret of overcoming all things, whether in fullness or in hunger. And I find that the strength of Christ’s explosive power infuses me to conquer every difficulty.
Philippians 4:13 TPT
The Lord spoke to me about how this experience can be likened to Noah. We can take our homes to be the ark and the virus as the waters. Just as God sustained Noah and his family, the God of sustenance promises to sustain us with everything we need in this season. As the foetus is developed in the womb and is delivered at an appointed time, we are also being developed in this isolation season and we need to get everything God has for us to thrive when the storm is over. Be determined to seek the Father’s heart concerning you so that when the isolation is over, you’ll never have doubts about the purpose of God for your life.
May you be filled with the Fullness of God and the Power of His Love!
Just as God sustained Noah and his family, the God of sustenance promises to sustain us with everything we need in this season.
